Looking for a unique and fun place to stay? Here are some random recommendations I’ve collected from my travels over the years. Enjoy!
BRATWURSThotel – Georgensgmünd, Germany
A sausage-themed hotel?! Of COURSE it’s in Germany… and naturally, it’s the first (and only) of its kind in the world! Sleep under drying sausage, surrounded by sausage wallpaper, hug your sausage pillow, wash your hands with sausage soap and yes… eat a truly frightening amount of sausage at the in-house restaurant, which you will because there are few other options in this very quiet village.
Granted, there’s not much to do here apart from enjoy the sausage hotel, but Nuremberg is only a short train ride away! And I’d argue the hotel is a destination in and of itself.
IKEA Hotel – Älmhult, Sweden
Yes, the world’s only IKEA hotel, built on the site of the world’s first ever IKEA, and directly across the parking lot from an epic IKEA museum (tickets included for free in your stay, naturally!) I’ll be honest: this hotel is fairly basic in terms of decor and frills, but it’s a fun and unique experience for die-hard IKEA fangirls like myself… plus the breakfast buffet is included, and yes, there are unlimited meatballs.
