Hi guys, it’s been a while!
I really have to apologize for the lack of updates. The past month has been absolutely bananas (in the best possible way), and amidst all the happy chaos, I’ve had almost no downtime to write you a proper update. BUT, better late than never, so here we go!
As most of you know, I jetted off to Europe on May 17th to pursue my dream job, travelling the world as Photo Reporter for the river cruise company, CroisiEurope. Until August, I’ll be visiting 14 different countries on board 10 cruises, taking photos, blogging and doing social media. I’m about a month in, and the experience so far has been incredible.
Every day, I’m seeing gorgeous sights, meeting great people and eating… a lot. To catch you guys up to speed, here are some of my favourite memories/highlights from this first month:
- The time I randomly became part of a Hungarian equestrian show and failed miserably
- Visiting Europe’s largest monolithic church (carved out of a single stone)
- When a kind stranger helped rescue my bag at the airport
- Touring my (now) favourite castle in Europe
- Seeing the Alabaster Coast
- My crazy day of unbelievable coincidences
I have to admit, going into this experience, I did have a lot of fears and concerns. What if I felt lonely? What if I didn’t like river cruising?! All these thoughts and more bounced around my head for weeks before I left, but you know what? I had absolutely no reason to be scared. I haven’t felt lonely once on this trip. The crew members and passengers I’ve met are so kind and full of life, it’s borderline unbelievable. And river cruising? Wow. I really wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I do! I guess this post gives a little insight into the reasons why.
I’m honestly having the best time, and even though all the photography and blogging is a lot of work, it’s the best kind of work imaginable. My biggest concern right now (really) is my waistline… Have I mentioned how good the food is?!
Now, in addition to the daily(ish) blog posts on the company website, I’ve also been tasked with putting together a video recap of each cruise. I’m a bit behind on videos, but here’s the first instalment about my cruise on the Seine:
So, with that small update, I’m off again! I’m currently cruising along the Rhine River, and will be off in a few hours on a trip through Germany’s Black Forest to Lake Titisee. I’ll be posting my video recaps on here as I finish them, but the CroisiEurope Travel Journal will have much more frequent updates, so I hope you’ll read along with me on there. Of course, feel free to also like/follow on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat (username: christinaguan).
All the best! Talk to you soon!
